Whirling Dervish

I am grateful for two truths in my life:

1. Kids seem to like me.
2. My friends are Good People.

The first is a plus because I believe children are skilled at detecting phoniness, and if they enjoy having you around - even (or especially) when the promise of gifts is nil - then that bodes quite well for you.

The second occurs to me after virtually every outing with friends. Knowing those you spend your free time with are all folks who

• would never cheat you
  
• would have your back in a fight and
  
• generally aren't shitty people
  

is not only reassuring, but also reflects on the kind of person you yourself must be.
